does anyone have a photo of five-day old buff orp chicks?

I looked at the buff orp breed page on this website and the buff chicks definitely had buff feathers at every point.

So it's clear that we didn't get buffs from TSC. Which is ridiculous, because how hard is it to read the label and put the chicks in the right bin? We bought five, and they're all sprouting the same white feathers, so it's not as if a customer mixed up a couple and put them in the wrong bin.

Here is a pic of one of the chicks. I just went upstairs to take the photo. We have one of the babies in a spare bathroom in a makeshift brooder because the others pecked around its eyes and there were specks of blood and the poor little thing couldn't open its eyes. It's doing fine now, but lonely. We're going to wait to reintroduce it once our other chicks arrive next Monday and Tuesday.

Here it is. What do you think it might be?

I would guess white rock.

lol..that chick looks like it has little eyebrows. so cute!

oh yeah, that little scab does give the illusion of an eyebrow! that's funny!

jean, thanks for posting the pic. that's what our buffs looked like at that age, too. sigh.

it's ironic that I'm asking for buff pics. my avatar is of some of our buffs as chicks last year. but I lost the original pic so now I only have it in the teensy avatar size!

Leghorn, maybe?

Whatever it is, it sure is cute!

I got 4 yellow ones from TSC that are sprouting white feathers. No one at the store knew what they had gotten in. I was told my yellow peeps *could* be cornish rocks, or they *could* just be some of the assorted pullets they got. ALL the chicks... the meaties, the pullets, and the straight run chicks... were mixed together in one tub.

Here are mine yesterday, at 8 days old.

thanks, everyone! I checked on our four yellow chicks in our barn brooder this morning and two are sprouting the appropriate buff-colored feathers and two are sprouting the aforementioned white wing feathers, just like the third one that I posted photos of last night.

so that means that of my five intended buff orp chicks, only two are buff orps and three are something else.

sigh. I will NEVER buy from TSC again. It's so annoying to think you're getting one breed and end up with another. They're awfully cute, I give you that, but still...we all opt for particular breeds for a reason. I try to get very gentle birds since I have a young child at home, for instance.

but I guess I already screwed that up by adding EE's and wyandottes to our mix. those little guys were the ones pecking at my yellow chicks. a couple of them seem quite aggressive already.
