Does ANYONE Have Chicks Right Now?

If you go to the Myers website right now - they just listed the extra chicks they have this week. Or call them. They've got some really nice breeds available = and you'd have them by Thursday if you order now. If you wait till later today, they won't be available. If you go to the website, click on the link to what's available right now. Actually - calling them might be better.

I just received 25 wyandottes from Privett's hatchery last week. Last year, Stromberg's sent me 25 EEs in November. No casualties either. It depends what you want. The popular breeds are still being shipped by the major hatcheries but some of the "rarer" breeds are sold out for the season.

I'm in the Portland, Oregon area. I am looking for either Faverolles, Ameraucanas, Welsummers, Marans, or Barnevelders. I know these breeds can be hard to find sometimes so I'm also considering Bantams as well. I looked at Ideal and that is a possibility. I might just wait for Spring, but I really don't want to! The chicken-bug is hard to cure

Try checking Murray McMurray Hatchery they have Bantam chicks for sale. You can also try checking local feed stores as they usually have chicks and chickens for sale.

The problem with Murray McMurray is that they have a minimum order of like 15-25 I think. I want a small flock so I either need a breeder or a hatchery with a small minimum order.

Yeah, but they really don't have anything that I want available. Believe me, I wish I had decided to order sooner.

I am new to all of this but we ordered eggs to hatch. We went online to find out how to build an incubator out of a styrafoam cooler. All in all if you have the time it was an amazing experience! We ordered 12 eggs from ebay because we did not know about BYC at the time- the first time we candled them 4 were no good. So we had 8 that went the full term- we only lost 2 of those, they did not hatch and when opened something went wrong in the last few days- so we now have 6 happy frisky 2 1/2 week old barred rocks. If you have the time I absolutely suggest it! We want to get some Rhode Island Reds to add to them- we have not decided if we are going to do eggs or chicks but will most likely to eggs again! It was amazing to see the eggs move and hear peeping before they even hatched! I thought I was nuts! Good luck with your search!
