I purchased keets of 3/4 days old the first week of August. After reading all about them I anticipated having birds I was pretty much just gonna catch fleeting glimpses of as they darted around my yard chasing bugs. They were way different than chicks from the beginning with their loud chirping when you had to pick them up for any reason. So I pretty much just let them be, figured nature knew what it was doing and if they weren't going to be friendly oh well. They were housed with chicks of the same age. They only free range at this time under supervision due to size and have learned to eagerly come when treats are offered to herd them back into the coop. They actually come easier than the chicken do.
The other day I had their treats already outside with me and when it came time to put everyone up I opened the bag and here they came running, the guineas that is. I offered a couple bites out of my hand and then when I sat back they hoped into my lap looking for more! For the last three evenings they come over and get in my lap to get their treats and actually allow me to pet them. This is way more than I could have EVER expected given what I had read about them.
I was just curious if anyone else had guineas that were like this?
Here they are sitting with my hubby yesterday.
