Does anyone have problems hatching Silkies ?

My Silkie chicks have always hatched just as well as my others. Are you sure your humidity is high enough?

we hatched two silkies just last week. One did it on its own, beautifully. but the second... oh my.... he pipped the shell, then just sat there peeping...... 24 hours later, we couldnt stand it, and had to help. Good thing too, he had slowed down in his noise and movements, and had never moved from the one hole that he had made, he was so stuffed in that egg, he couldnt move or spin, never mind break a shell!

He took a day or so to recover, but is now up and zipping around the cage with his siblings. I am certain that if we had not helped, he would have perished. the hole had caused the membrane to dry up, and it was like a tough fine leather!
