Does anyone have their own microscope for fecals?

I'm looking into getting a microscope so I can do my own fecals on my animals. Anyone have suggestions of good but not too expensive? I think I should be fine if I go up to 1600X. Would that be good?

I remember reading something on here quite a while ago. Try a search using fecal and microscope and you might be able to find the old post. It had a good recommendation and a link if I remember right.

OOOH I really want to learn about this. I seriously do not trust the vet I took my dog to - I could totally see them claiming that they saw eggs just so they could charge me the $20+ lab fee and the $20 de-worm shot which wasn't cheap

Needless to say I haven't been back to that vet.

I do everything else myself, why not check for worms?

I found it. The post refers to Fiasco Farms (goats) website. If you go there and look under care/supplies they link to an inexpensive but suitable microscope that was under 100 bucks.

I see Tala beat me to it and was able to get a link.

I remembered that post because I have a lot of animals and it seemed like a realy useful idea, but I never followed through.
