Does anyone have too many chickens?

"The More the Merrier"
I started with 4 hens.
I current have 16 hens and a rooster.
I live in the city and I have reached my limit.
(yard space is limited).
If I lived in the country or in a rural area, I would love to have a flock of 30 plus hens of different breeds.
I would limit the size of my flock based on free ranging space and coop size.

Good luck with your flock.

If I only had my 6 to 10 I would ...
clean less
spend less on feed
spoil them more
have more time for just them

each day!

I also let mine free range the non layers go out first the ones laying do not free range till everyone has layed or they do it out side any were!

My coop is filled with sand so I just sift with old screen (my DE & PDZ mix well in it) but it is a big coop with alot of sand!

Well I only wanted 4, a roo and 3 hens. Got up to 20, got rid of 8 all roos. Now have 17 and planning a hatch for the spring.

Already drawing up plans for the new and improved coop I'm going to build. My DH don't say much about it at least they all live outside.

Wanna hear a horror story? Niece gave us two one was killed. Had to buy pals for the one. Bought 4 Bo's. Decided we liked watching chicken TV. Wanted a few more for eggs and predator back up.
Got 22 from Blisschick. Now kids think we need to be put in home! Do ya believe it they have sibling rivalry with the chickens. Youngest son was kidded about staying home to watch them, now wants us to make large gumbo!

No chickens in house yet. building bunk room in shop in case chickens make it to house!

No such thing as too many. had over 300 during the summer. Trimmed that down to a bare minimum for winter, which came to just over 120. Wife and I have been talking and will be going to over 400 by spring. YES!!! The incubator will be running soon.

Thanks MDBUCKS. I appreciate all the help I can get trying to learn to be a cyberGranny. They didn't have this stuff when I went to school
