I just spent 15 minutes writing down everything I wanted to record about my new egg set, before realizing it would be much more efficient to use an Excel spreadsheet. Anyone have one that they use and like & want to share? Once I get mine set up, I'll post it here for anyone else to use if they like.

I have been thinking that very thing. Have started with a very basic excel sheet and will build on it as I go. there was something available n line but I am dubious.

Okay, I just put a basic spreadsheet together... but now I'm not sure how to share, or if it's even possible on the forums. Anyone know?

Right now, I'm keeping track of: Date laid, date set, whether washed or nest clean, who laid the egg (my best guess anyway), and general notes (in this case, one was taken out of the pen with a huge splatter of dried poop on it that took quite a lot of cleaning--I'm curious whether it will be viable, and whether it is more likely to develop bacterial infection, etc.). Anything else I should be noting.

We have the Microsoft Office series/products and they are very good. Microsoft Excel is very good as is Microsoft Outlook (email), Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Word (documents and stuff), etc. They are all VERY good and excelent. I HIGHLY recommend them (Microsoft/Microsoft Office products, etc). They are SUPERB!

I use "OpenOffice" freeware software which is open-source software which does the same as Microsoft Office, essentially.

I was not able to use the software provided in the previous posting, it showed an error on my computer. Perhaps others are able to use it.

May I suggest this alternative for keeping track of your chickens:

It seems to me that this Excel spreadsheet generally fulfills my needs and expectations. Perhaps it will also be good for you folks.

THANKS to the creator of this spreadsheet!

To: Yard full o' rocks,

I tried downloading the file from filefactory.com and the 2nd time that I tried, it worked fine.

It seems a simple and useful file that would fulfill the desire to easily keep track of each hatching.

I suppose that a person would merely use the "template" for successive hatches?

THANKS for taking the time to "lay it out". It should be helpful to a lot of folks!

By the way, is Cartersville, Georgia where ex-Pres. Jimmy Carter lives? If so, how's the peanut crop this year?
