Well, do you? So far I have not had any luck with them. I am just wondering of they are a breed that does not need to be mixed with any other breed. I am also wondering if they are illness-prone?

Why does this site only post part of the post? I was questioning whether or not anyone knows about Plymouth Rocks? This site did not post my question. I have had nothing but bad luck with them so far. Any Ideas? Both have been like someone with polio , deforming and incoherent. Any ideas?

Your original question was posted as the topic as it should be, you probably entered it there without realizing it. The rest of your original post is where it should be in the reply.

I don't know about Plymouth Rocks but they are just another breed and shouldn't have any related health issues. It sounds like they have been breed with relatives that are to close, where did they come from? A hatchery or a friend?

Plymouth Rocks Mix well with other breeds, mine do. They are no more prone to diseases than any other breed. If they have just started to act sick it sounds like they have picked up some disease. First though is Mareks. Please post in the Emergencies/ Diseases/ Injuries and Cures. With as much details as you can about how they are acting.

I'm really sorry that you've had problems with your girls/boys. Perhaps you could detail what's going on, as suggested by Den in Penn & see if anyone has any suggestions. This site is a wealth of information & people are very willing to help. No matter how anyone raises their chickens, the one thing everyone has in common is their love of them and genuine concern for their health, safety & well being.

The only breed we've ever had is the Barred Rock (or Plymouth Rocks) and I haven't had any problems with my girls being any more prone to illness than not..They are extremely healthy most of the time and sociable ALL of the time. Excepting for the occasional mites, some respiratory infections and a recent brush with one's "fly strike" & the resulting maggots (oh SOOO much fun for everyone!), we've had no troubles with them in the time we've had them (going on 4 years.) We got our girls from a reputable breeder, so we were very sure of their health & care prior to them coming to join our family.

Please post to let us know how everything is going. I hope everyone turns out to be healthy by the end of the story.

I have had great luck with BR and partridge rocks. I ended up with some quite by accident and now will not be without. I think part of your problem was what time of year you got them. I don't know who TSC uses as a hatchery but all the hatcheries are overtaxed that time of year and at the height of their numbers. Sub par chicks will be produced, the brooders in the store are overloaded and not cleaned... Start over with chicks from a different store (hatchery) or find a local breeder (if they aren't shipped they won't be as stressed and you shouldn't loose as many naturally).
