Does anyone know contributing factors to a pullet becoming egg-bound?

Could surprising them while they are sitting on the nest do it ?

I don't think that would do it. I know I learned from one of the "elders" on BYC that hens that start laying at a super early age are more prone to becoming eggbound.

I don't think so. None of my pullets will let me touch them, so when I catch one on a nest, I go in and pet them... they still lay. Even tho I know they don't like being trapped like that... lol
