I would not give it to him.
Antibiotics should be given only in case you have evidence of bacterial infection and are sure about the kind of bacteria you are dealing with. Plus never give any medication you do not know the following about:

#is it safe and effective to use for the intended animal and problems
#brand name and ingredients
#exact producer's information about use and withdrawal period
# how it was stored
#expiration date

Yes actually I understand. But would giving even a small amount pose a serious risk? I was going to give a single dose, whether it helps or not. I just feel helpless and maybe it could work.

A little bit could actually put your chicken at risk. It'd be better to give a probiotic instead. Random doses of things would most likely make bad bacteria resistant to those antibiotics and make your chicken's immune system more at risk for other diseases while dosed.
