I don't know what to do. He crows for about an hour to an hour 1/2 every morning, and he's really loud. I'm not allowed to have a rooster (he was supposed to be a girl) but I love him and for sure someone is bound to complain and then I'm in trouble. I'm only allowed 8 chickens and I have 15 and I don't want to get rid of any. I had another rooster that one of the hens hatched and did notice less crowing when I rehomed him, but it seems to have picked up again.
So... does anyone have any tricks to quite a rooster down? I was thinking a radio in the coop on a timer to turn on at 5am (to distract him?) or maybe dark out shades on the windows (but then there's light coming in through the vents).
facts:
he's almost a year old
he's a bantam brahma
he's the only rooster, but my "across the street" neighbor has one (but his doesn't crow nearly this much)
Seriously, I'll try anything...I'm desperate.
