Hi all,
This is more so for meaties (cornish X), but I would like to suppliment my layers with some fish if possible. I have access to large amounts of fresh north atlantic fish. The capelin spawn every June by the thousands and we use cast nets to catch them. I was wondering if anyone would know how to make their own fish meal or what my options are.
50 years ago my grandfather woudl feed birds fish and then a couple weeks before slaughter they would take them off fish and feed table scraps to get the fishiness off the birds.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of doing anything like this before. I was a kid when he told me this story but unfortunatly he is no longer around to ask.
I intend to incorporate as much greens as possible but I'm looking at the fish as a decent protein source. I realize that I need to feed them grains as well. I'm just trying to get an idea how I should balance things.
I just want to have birds that are healthy so I have healthy meat and healthy eggs.
Thanks everyone.
PS. If everything goes well my eggs should hatch Friday.....
Jeff
