they went after my waddling cochin chickens...believe me vultures are pretty agile on the ground. They had my cochins (all five of them) crammed on the ground witht he poor chickens stuffing their heads and necks as far as tehy could in leaves and brush to keep from the birds. I found out later why from a few other chicken people that the vultures will if they can peck their eyes out to cause shock and then death.

Thank you Tom....i felt like everyone was calling me a liar LOL! It's nice to get some back up that they truely do go after live prey from time to time. I Live in the woods here where it's not really that common to find road kill....unless it's during rut and deer hunting season...in the dead of summer they're pretty much starving around here.

* Don't know any personally (Heehee); Did have one eyeballing Miss Chook from the roof of the house over her pen a couple weeks ago. DH chased it off with a shot from the garden hose.

Nailed 1 with the car windshield once (once was enough). THere are red headed and blackheaded around this area. No problems with the red 1s killing live animals but the blackheaded 1's will kill. They will pick out the eyes of newborn calves and wait till they die.
