Does anyone know what causes...

Prior to my chicken dying she had a murky liquid running from her mouth, like she was trying to gag it up. Is this a symptom of anything someone is familiar with. Coupled with her choking and gaging and trouble breathing before she died, I thought it might sound familiar to someone.

I had a hen die when it was very hot out. She was panting,breathing heavy and when I found her she had drool dripping from her mouth right before she died. Otherwise she was healthy. I believe it was the heat, or she choked on something.
