Does anyone know what "rare breed" this is?

Looks like an EE to me. I love mine. Just got an additional 25 last week from Ideal. They are very colorful, the first set of feathers is nothing like the adult set. The girls I got 2 years ago were great foragers and laid like the dickens. There is a lot of snobbery about hatchery chicks (EE's ) versus Ameraucanas, but I loved mine anyway. They are very pretty birds.

Very true. And their uusually not all that rare. Its just more "rare" than a barred rock, or red sexlink, etc.

Should I buy a lottery ticket? I think I might be developing psychic abilities. I saw the title "Does anyone know what "rare breed" this is?" And I shouted EASTER EGGER at the screen before I even opened up the thread!

I know Meyer has a reputation for sending EE males as the "free rare breed" but McMurray doesn't put EEs in the "rare" category in their catalog (Meyer does...) I also don't see cheek puff on this chick... but then it's not a very close picture, either. Leg color and comb type would be very helpful because green legs and a pea comb would convince me that McMurray has joined the EE-as-freebie club. The face patterning makes me think your chick will be gold-laced (or penciled?) but

Thanks yall for all the input. The legs are gray. I'll try and get better pics today. The other chicks are Rhode Island Reds.

You'd be surprised. In Canada even the EE mutt breed is very uncommon. I can't find them ANYWHERE! If anyone knows where I can, I'd appreciate it!
