does building a coop result in spousal arguements?

So, what, were you near our property this morning when, before the first tools even came out, the fight started??? Thank goodness we can't see any of our neighbor's homes from ours! Or should I say thank goodness our neighbors can't hear us? Well, today's project, just putting doors on a 4' x 8' dog house to convert it into a growout coop, was a success. The job's done, we're still speaking, and the young birds can move in tomorrow. Whew!

LOL, your timing with this thread was great!

P.S. Soon though we'll be starting to build about a 8' x 16' coop... I'm sure it'll be quite the experience.

Hmmm. beautiful coop. I wonder if you could make a coop out of the Oscar Mayer Weiner- mobile. I dunno I saw the red coop, which made me think of hot dogs(reddish), which lead to the oscar mayer mobile, Strange thought process. Have to go awol from forum and find something to eat - fast!! Back later.

HAHAHAHAHA - ooooh yeah.

My hubby has only thrown a tape measure twice.

I would build the entire thing myself - but I am only so tall and there are times I need a couple of extra hands.

But it builds character - that's what I keep telling myself.

Yeah, character.

It is the same way at my house. The only argument was when I said WANTED to get chickens, and DH said H-E double hockey sticks NO! But he's given in, and the only thing he might have to help me with on the coop is putting the big pieces of siding in place.

Good luck getting through to your hubby. Hopefully he'll realize that it's better to pay attention to all the research you are doing instead of having to change things later.

Trust me after 46 years of marriage, I know that there is the possibility for argument in every project. Indoor projects-generally the Princess is in charge, and I am just a pair of mindless hands. Outdoor projects-generally I am the boss, and her job is to provide drinks, tools and silence. I must claim that I am better at keeping my mouth shut better than she is. She keeps forgetting who is the "Boss." When the kids were living at home and we would start a wallpapering project, they would find an excuse to leave the house until we were done. Perfectly natural, and yeah it builds CHARACTER?

not if your spouse doesn't help.

my wife almost never helps on projects unless i beg her and really need the help.

I try to avoid argument's BEFORE there is a chance to even have one. I know my DH is a visual guy so rather than try to TELL him what I need when we are working out the kink's in a project plan I just draw him a picture... literally lol. I'm planning on setting aside some time today to draw up a sketch of what I want and how I want it. That way when he get's out there I know what I need he know's what I want and we both end up going in the same direction. We love working together and sometimes my plan's are improved by his ideas. Of course it's also better to bribe him with pie and ice cream after the project's over too

Nope, I'm an independent type. DH is a painter, not a carpenter and he has been known to joke that he married me because I have more tools! If I get into a pinch I have two superb carpenters I can call for advice. DH's job is more like hold this please, okay, thanks, seeya. But then I don't mess with his garden either!
