Does every flock have a complainer?

i have a gsl that is so nosey i have had her stick her head into my empty coffee cup, turn her head sideways and look suspiciously at me. if go sit in the chicken yard she jumps on my shoulder, she constantly fluffs my pants hem, shirt hem and picks at my shoes and socks. she sticks her head into everyone business. shes sweet and loves to sit on my lap and survey the yard, if she sees anything interesting she runs to it then comes back and perches on my knee or shoulder.

We have a Japanese Bantam that feels the need to yell about EVERYTHING! It's gotten to the point that if she isn't complaining I fear something has happened to her

I have TWO complainers. I am sure they increase in number with the size of the flock. One is a Welsummer named Molly. The other an old biddy Bramha hen named Hank. Hank will squeal and fuss if the younger hens invade her space, the roosters get to close or if I offer the wrong hand out. She once raised an alarm so loud I thought I had an intruder attacking a chicken. Instead, it was Hank. One of the other hens was kicking dirt on her while she was scratching in the dirt beside it. Molly, can pierce an eardrum if she finds something in the dirt she doesn't like. She will jump back, shriek and stomp away. She complains bitterly if she has to share a dust bath, a roost, a shady bit of ground or any corn in a 3 ft radius. I am very used to fussy, complaining hens!

I have a buff Polish who is constantly getting separated from the group and then freaking out about it. Her name is Pebbles.

I also have a mutt duck who always has something to say. OMG-people! OMG-goats! OMG-the pool isn't full! OMG-hungry! OMG-get out of my house! (she's broody)
Her name is DQ (Drama Queen)

I have a Barred Rock Rooster who...I can't figure out. I just know he whines ALL the time!!!
I call him Bruce.

Bruce is the 'other' rooster. The rooster that skips when he comes running along. The rooster that has these beautiful tail feathers that flap in the wind. The rooster that will just sit down in a corner facing the wall and whine half the day for reasons unknown to even himself.

I have two roosters and over 20 hens now..and while The Governor acts like a real rooster, Bruce is walking around being a whiner for no reason. Infact when people come over they say he is more annoying than the other rooster crowing all the time.
He has always been a bit odd but he has his duties. He will 'find' food for the other ladies..often this may be a ploy to get them in so he can grab their comb (but usually misses because he is awkward) to mate, but instead he tears off a feather on the head instead and sends the girls running.
He will make this high pitches 'eeeeeaaaakhh' that will go on for...just wait....10 minutes straight, I swear in one breath! It is generally compared to air coming out of a balloon..a giant balloon!
He always stands guard in the door at dusk, waiting for all the ladies to come in and roost. He will stand there watching, to make sure everyone is in. And is usually a watchful eye.
Since he was 1 day old, Bruce gets sleepy in odd places. He will suddenly decide wherever he is is a nice place to sit down..and shortly after a nap will follow. Sometimes in the middle of the lawn. Any interruptions call for hot air being let out of his mysterious tank of a body to alert....well anyone who is trying to ignore it.
Sometimes he will go sit infront of a tree and face it..and make his squeaky whine for 10 minutes or more. Other times he will be in the barn alone and whining.
I realize I should have just named him Skippy, but he always just seemed like a Bruce.
By way of miracle...even though I am not sure he ever successfully mates with any ladies (being so awkward and unbalanced and...well whiney), I managed to get at least 1 of 11 chicks born this spring his own.
Bruce is special, even though he is a whiney weirdo.

I think he's trying to convince the hens to lay their eggs where he is... he found a great spot for them! I have had a few roosters that made a gawd awful racket very much like your Bruce. I think it is a rooster egg song!

I guess I should tell about my current complainer. Not nearly as funny as some of you others but here goes. She's a little bantam Andalusian. Every morning when I go out to feed she starts... BOK BOK BOK BOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOK!!!!! Ugh, and LOUD!

She's telling me she's hungry!

I put food in her dish and she says BOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOKBOK until I tap the spoon on the edge of her dish and she sees there is food in it! Drives me crazy but she's so cute!

I had a Buff Orp that was a complainer, ever since she was a chick. She passed away a while ago. All the memories of her make me laugh cause she was always a grumpy bird.

Yes I have one too!
Whenever I am standing by the screen door, (not in the coop) she starts boking as loud as she can! She's a RIR named Pale- Comb ( I should change it). When I go to collect eggs from the outer access nest boxes she sees me and starts boking again.
However, I have a spoiled chicken named Nugget who boks only when she wants to get out of hte coop.

When I open the pop door she is the first to get out.

I have a very noisy chicken. She announces every single tiny change outside. She shouts to the world for about an hour before she lays her egg each day to make certain no one misses the event. She seems to be fascinated by this whole egg business and spends much of her day observing every single chook laying their egg for the day. When it is laid, she then sits on their egg and the announces that it has been laid! She also yells when wild birds (pigeons etc) land in the yard, when anyone else is having a drink, when an airplane goes by etc etc
