Does every flock have a complainer?

My chicks are just 3 weeks old, what does this sound like? I live in the city on a small 7,000 sq ft property and we are allowed 4 hens but I am getting increasingly nervous of noise!

I don't have a complainer, but I DO have a trouble-maker! She's smaller, faster, and smarter than the others. She's like the kid in a classroom that hatches the plan but then gets others to do the dirty work. She always SEEMS so sweet and innocent, but whenever something 'strange' happens you can bet she's the one behind it, lol!

Little minx! She's my favorite, though.

I had to giggle. We have a quiet, but dominant Ameraucana hen "Dan" who is the first to everything, but the Buff Orpington gal "Jessica" who thinks the sky is falling all the time. Her most anxious moments are just before bed. She clearly wants to head up the ladder to roost in the hen house and keeps asking the other three if they are ready. The later it gets, the more urgent her peeps and squawks. The other three seem to ignore her. She keeps it up until just after sundown when the Ameraucana finally leads them all to bed and then we can hear her in the hen house, like she's saying, "Well, really, now! We didn't have to wait so long! That was unnecessary." and then she is silent and all is well.

We actually sit out on our front porch and have a beer just to watch the show. It's a riot!

My Australorp is a complainer, too. She is 4 weeks and has complained about everything since the day I got her. It isn't that loud now, but I have no doubt this is part of her chickenality and will continue in her adulthood. At least she lets me sleep until 8 or so.

I have a Buff Orpington named Supper who is constantly frantic and complaining. Thats how she ended up with the name. Any time she gets seperated because she isn't paying attention to the flock when they move, she panics and won't hush up. She's been that way her whole life and we decided if we weren't around to watch her she'd be somethings supper...and then it just seemed right for a name :)

Bwak,Bwak....BWAAAAAAk is what it sound like :) Not to be confused with Bwak, Bwak, Bwak, BWAAAAK - which is the egg song! Hens can be loud but it doesn't last long. Not even close to a barking dog for duration IMO.

Yep got one too! A blue Barnevelder. Always at the door or window bawking at me for attention. Open a door and in she marches. Always a step behind me whining while I'm in the garden. Has an opinion on everything...non stop chatterbox. She's the only one of my wide bodies that can fly over the chicken yard fence. Always has her beak in the middle of anything I'm working on. We refer to her as the "Tour Director". Yeah she's a pest but wouldn't trade her for the world!!
