I like the Partridge ones. I don't have any though. I had a white one but she made me mad so I sold her. She was a free-loader that laid like 3 eggs in 6 months and it wasn't like she was old. She wasn't broody either. I might try a new Silkie at a later time because I do love their fluffy feathers.
There isn't a chicken that I don't like the look of. I find them all beautiful and unique. I have only been a chicken owner for 2 weeks now so I can't compare too many breeds but I have 2 lil' silkies in my "collection" and they are oh so cute!! I am a fan of bantams but then I saw this video and I think I might have to have one of these someday!!! That rooster in the video cracks me up the way he saunters!!! I want to give him a big bear hug....I need that rooster.
for me there is just something about Show Girls, the fuzziness next to the naked skin and the ridiculousness of it all. I can look at them for hours lol silkies are awesome to.
Eh. I'm not really into silkies either. I like chickens that look... chickenish. Regular feathers and all that. If I got a silkie, well, it would probably be to eat it. Because I'm wierd enough to want to eat black chicken meat even if it tastes the same.
I have had a few silky chicks up to about age 9 weeks old and they were sweet tempered. I have a very tiny buff pullet that is 7 weeks old that is very sweet. I prefer they not have so much fluff in front of the eyes but that's my opinion. I really like a chicken that is a little different and silkies fall into that catagory. I also like the muffed breeds like D'Uccle and D'Anvers. I guess I'm pro silkie
