One BR ended up being a cockerel so he has a new home. These guys are all super friendly and like to perch on us and sit in our laps. Here’s hoping they’re ALL pullets!

How's the chick rearing going?
Great! They’re getting big fast! I’ve started letting them spend time with our three bantams in the outside run and it’s going okay. My bantams are asserting themselves and that can be hard to see but no one is getting hurt. Time together is fully supervised by me. Hoping to get them outside full time in the coop within a couple weeks!

We are expecting 4 chicks to be shipped tomorrow from Mt. Healthy Hatchery. I can NOT stop checking my email 🤪 do they typically ship right on time? I am off of work for the next several days but I keep worrying I won’t know the chicks are at the post office 🤣
I was absolutely panicked. 😁 Our ship date was June 12, which was a Wednesday, and I got a notification saying they would arrive Saturday. The hatchery is only a handful of hours' drive from is, and I was positive they were going to go from hub to hub and all arrive dead. I contacted the hatchery and they told me that USPS has only ever put Saturday or I think Wednesday as their "estimated arrival" dates since Covid and they didn't know why. The chicks hit my post office first thing Friday morning, I had them home and in my brooder and peeping by around 8:30a All of my chicks were alive and I didn't get any extras, but I still stress every day over their care, so the shipping stress was just the first worry in a long line for me 🤣 Sending you lots of good luck for happy, healthy birds!

A LOT has happened since my original post. They’re all doing well 💜
