Does "flock raiser" have enough niacin for ducks and geese?

i've been using flock raiser by purina for a while now. I do add a niacin tablet to their drinking water. Get it at the grocery store for $2.50 for 100. It takes a minute to dissolve and stir. Don't get the Flush Free kind. Just regular niacin tablets

When they have niacin deficiency do they have drop tail and weak legs. Our duck feeder has 20 percent crude protein. Please help thsnks

I changed the feed to grower finisher it has 17 percent protein rather than the 20 percent in the duck food. Bought the niacin wrong kind mine was no flush . Do the ducks die. I just give plain yogart. Should I buy electrolyte solution to put in the water. We got three ducks last year and they are fine never had these issues. I don't know what we did differant except started feeding them layer feed instead of grower finisher. We also got our feed from the USA for our first but can't bring it across anymore. Maybe our Canadian feed is not as good

I use Purina Flock Raiser for all of my ducks, ducklings, teenagers and adults. The gentleman at my local feed store has proven to be pretty knowledgable and he said that is all I need and I don't need to change it as they get older. I have four that are now 2 years old and have not had any feed related issues. Racoons on the other hand.... really can't stand those darned things ;)

I don't think it does they get it from eating bugs minnows greens etc. my one duck became quite ill but is slowly coming back I think. We made the mistake of feeding them layer instead of grower finisher. Even the duck food had 20 percent protein. I fond out that was too much. I am not an expert but our other year old ducks did great but they free ranged. We have an issue with fox so now only let them out supervised. The fox was carrying one away we saved her. Good thing the fox couldn't run with her in her mouth so she dropped her. She had a few punctured wounds which healed well. Last year was the first year we ever had ducks. This is a learning experience for us. They become part of your family

Our little runty is still with us she is having watery stools now maybe too much electrolyte eating a bit drinking her wings are droopy she keeps bringing them up she is still weak. Resting a lot she was standing this morning adjusting her wings her tail is still down. Gave her the polyvisol twice now. She has niacin in her water I gave her some yogart thinking that would help her . My husbands gave her two minnows again yest eve. She ate them. She is bathing slowly still becomes so weak puts her head down. The electrolyte solution I mixed it a bit strong I think I teaspoon to two litres of water. The directions are for a large volume. We let her see her friends every day she quakes loudly they respond to her. Any more suggestions how long before she starts responding to treatment.

How long as she been feeling bad? and cut back a bit on the electrolytes if your noticing watery stools but they can have this even when well. droopy wings can also mean blood feathers are coming in and they have to gain muscle strength in their wings to be able to hold them properly it takes time. also overdosing on poly vi sol can give upset stomach. Be careful to only give this 1X a day and proper amt. keep up with the niacin how old is this duckling ? also what your temps if you are keeping her under heat light, too hot can cause problems even death. Have you tried mashing up some peas with warm water and offering along with a bit of feed.

also I have used Flock Raiser from day one with my flock over 9 years now and that is hatchlings on up and never had a problem but them again they can free range, if worried about too much protein add green peas/ chopped Romaine/ lettuce/ cabbage kale and also whole oats added to their feed when 4-6 weeks old.

Hi thanks I live in Canada so we don't have the same feed. They are eight weeks old. Only one out of four is acting sick there was another one but she seems to be doing ok. This one was the smallest one. My husband got chicken layer instead of chicken finisher and we where feeding that to them for about two weeks when the fowl food finished. The first thing i noticed was her tail started hanging low then she couldn't walk for long distance. We switched the food to a fowl food but it had 20 percent protein so went to the chicken finisher which has 17 percent protein. We also put them in with our year old ducks. At about the same time. I don't think we have any drakes. The three all lay eggs. I also started we call her runty on polyvisol a few drops everyday and the plain niacin in their water.runty has been unwell for about five days now and we have been trying to treat her for the last two. Runty is by herself in the garage with straw and food and water close by she does stand and walk a bit but is very weak. We put her in water three times a day. Her belly is wet we dry it off. We had a heat lamp but it got too warm so that is off now. I also syringes some electrolytes down her two days in a row. Then I gave her yogart with honey last night hoping to get her gut back to normal. She does eat. I put one crushed tab of brewers yeast in her food. We let her see her friends and she quakes loudly and they respond to her. So if there is more i can do let me know. Her feathers look good. She seems alert when she is not resting cackles when we go to see her. The other thing is my daughter sprayed some paint on them so we can tell them apart I wonder if she got poisoned from that. The others are fine.

Yes we tried frozen peas in her swim last night and she ate some of them. My husband also has given her two minnows for two days and she seemed to love those too. She breaths a bit fast when she exerts herself. Otherwise her breath sounds are normal. Her eyes are clear lean. She ties to prune herself but is weak so not able to do a good job
