Actually safeguard treats giardia. But I do agree if the dog needs to see a vet.

Fenbendazole is the active ingredient used to treat giardia. Safeguard is one brand name. There are others. You would need to be able to figure the proper dose of Fenbendazole. Dewormer is relatively cheap at your Vet's office and you would know you are getting the proper dose. Throwing the wrong drugs at the wrong maladies is what leads to drug resistance.
