I have one drake and today i let him out of his pen to walk around and he'd take a few steps in the snow, and then just lay down. I wasn't sure if he just didn't like walking in the snow cuz some of the drifts were kinda deep, or if something could be wrong. I was trying to look at his legs and they seemed fine. I did not see anything abnormal. At some points he seemed to get annoyed with the snow and would just flap his wings and try his best to fly over it to his desired destination buttt he's a pekin so he can't fly too far haha. I was just wondering if its just maybe a dislike of snow? it was kinda windy too if that may have had anything to do with it.

the same drake now has a black spot on the webbing of his feet. i can not tell if it is frostbite or just a piece of leaf he got stuck to his foot. ive tried to catch him, but with no luck. im not sure what i should do. do you think it could be frostbite? he barely comes out of his house and pen since the snow has been on the ground and i always make sure his bedding is nice and dry. what should i do?

If you think he's hurt, then you need to catch him. If he's hanging out in the coop, that shouldn't be too difficult, use some plywood or cardboard to corral him. If you're looking for help about what the black spot is, get a picture, it will help immensely.

I have one rouen drake that also does not like to get his feet cold. He will take a few steps in the snow and sit right down and then try to scoot along. I did catch him yesterday and looked at his feet and they were just fine. He walks just like he supposed to once he is in his shed which has straw on the floor. I figure he just does not like cold feet. Oh well, just another three months and it will start warming up.

yeah he was doing the scooting along too! and i was like ohhh boy what a lazy bum lol. last year he did fine in the snow, but then again all his friends did fine sooo i guess he felt like it was no big deal. i kept him in the garage last night and set him all up. he quite enjoyed it. warmer, no wind, absolutely no predators. he was having a good time. he was walking all around completely fine and after swimming his foot looks fine, so we're guessing it was just dirt. oh that little ducky just always has to scare me!
thanks everybody and merry christmas!
