I tried giving my birds yogurt but they ignore it.

A big favorite for some and good for their digestive systems. Flavored is ok but plain is best.

I dip bits of whole wheat bread into yogurt (the same I eat, fruit flavored sugar free) and my girls gobble it right up. If I put the yogurt into a dish alone they ignore it.

There is a "Much" better alternative to yogurt. Rather than posting it all again, please see my post "Probiotics - a lesson for the day"

I would personally "never" feed yogurt to chickens.

I'm not too crazy about the artificial sweeteners either. They say they are perfectly fine; but I know several people, myself included, that have serious GI problems with them.

My birds aren't really into plain yogurt, but they love bananas. I work at Dannon (lucky me! and lucky you if you live near me!) so I filled a cup of banana fruit when my machine changed over (waste fruit, no stealing) and mix it in with plain yogurt. Yummy!

smoothmule i can't find your post about what is better than yogert and why you would never use it. can you paste the link or something?
thanks.
