Does it hurt to let shipped eggs rest for more than 24 hours?

im getting shipped eggs next week and im not going to set them until like 27 hours after they arrive because im not going to be home. (first, they were arriving on a day i was going to be home, but then i got emailed telling me it was pushed back a week, on a day i wasnt going to be home) i already asked my mom to bring them inside when they come, and i'll be arriving the next day to put them in my incubator. will that hurt the eggs???

am i like overreacting? is this really a thing to be freaking out about?

yeah, im a beginning hatcher, and i will freak out over many things.

any experiences with a situation like this?

I have held eggs for 4 days before setting them, because I was waiting for more to arrive so I could set them all at once in the same incubator.

No harm at all.

I always let them rest at least 12 hours or overnight, so another 12 hours or day or two will NOT harm them.

I had 18 duck eggs sitting for 8 days before i set them. 15 are developing well. Don't worry!

I think you have to ensure the temp around 50-60 F and you have to turn them every few hours so they don't settle. In my case, I decided not to wait 24 hours but them in at 8-9 hours period, and now I am regretting that decision. But that's another story

You'll be fine, but I would have Mom unpack them if possible. I unpack mine immediately & put into egg cartons (small end down)...keep in a cool place.

When I get eggs, if the eggs are cool when they arrive, I let them come to room temp, then I put them in the incubator but leave the turner off for 2-3 days. If I get eggs in the summer and they are warm when they arrive, they go straight into the incubator but I keep the turner off for the first 2-3 days.

I have eggs sitting right now in my (cool) back room waiting for current hatch to finish - got 3 different shipments on 3 different days

. I put them in egg cartons and prop up one end, changing ends twice daily to keep the embyros moving until they go in the incubator. Let them come to rooom temp before starting the incubator when you do put them in. Works for me.
