Does loss of comb size due to illness ever return?

We had some kind of illness run through our flock a few months ago, and we noticed that some of the birds who got sick lost a lot of comb size. Our white faced black spanish had a huge comb. After the illness her comb had shrunk by probably 75%. She's been healthy now for a couple months, but her comb has not returned to it's original size. Is this likely permanent?

When she is 100% and starts laying again, her comb should become enlarged and brilliant once again. During a molt or times of stress it is common for comb size and color to diminish.

She is very red, and has begun laying again, but the comb size continues to be stunted. Hope it comes back. She really had an amazing comb.
