Does mixing a Cayuga and white crested duck make Crested Cayuga?

So I wanna crested Cayuga duck and was wondering if I mix a White crested female with a male Cayuga will I get Crested Cayuga? If not how do I make Crested Cayuga or do I have to buy one?

Well, whenever you mix two breeds of birds, you get mixed breeds, not a purebred of one breed.

Like, if you breed a lab and a husky, you don't get a purebred yellow husky. You get mutts.

Same with ducks. You'll get mutts. 50% of the resulting mixed breed offspring will have crests. They won't be crested cayugas, though, they'll be crested mixed breeds. If you want a purebred crested cayuga, you'd have to buy one.

Though the crested gene causes a LOT of issues, and is even a lethal gene, so even though it looks cute, it's not necessarily something you really want to breed for. That's something to keep in mind.
