Does molting cause a roo's comb to shrink?

I have a bantam buff brahma rooster that is approximately 15 months old and appears to be molting. This is my first experience with molting, as I got my first chickens last spring and I wasn't sure what to expect. He has been loosing feathers for about 2 months, I would say and just doesn't seem to be himself. He hasn't been crowing or taking any interest in his other "roosterly" duties and seems to have shrunk in size. And his comb also seems to have become smaller. It this a normal occurrence with molting or should I be looking for another reason? He is my favorite rooster and was absolutely beautiful before this started. Also, the last couple nights, he has taken to sleeping down in the separate area I have penned off for juveniles. Not on the roosts with the others.

Otherwise, he is the same. Eating plenty and always excited to get out and free-range.
