Smooshy has taken her babies to the pond and I'm a nervous wreck. I thought I had the pen secure so babies could not get out. Smooshy has tried for the few days to show them a way out, today she succeeded! What kind of mother would I be if I didn't judge another mother's decisions!

She can't protect them from everything one being snapping turtles but she'll do the best she can. Hope they will be okay.

We don't have snappers in our pond but I worry about hawks and snakes. She brought them back up mid-afternoon and they are in coop now. She is showing me that she is a responsible mother.

My muscovy hens hatch out and raise their own with no need for us to handle the ducklings at all. We've had two ducklings drown in the pool but that's a low, and acceptable, loss level.
