Does nest area have to be divided, or can it just be one open space?

I changed to a communal box as well and now I don't hear all that complaining in the morning waiting for the favorite spot!

I would make it communal if I were building that coop. Like so many others here, I have several nest boxes but they wait in line for the favorite. As someone said, easy enough to add a divider later if there seems to be a need.
