Does paying for membership make this site run faster for you?

With all respect I don't want to know about all the upgrading your browser or changing browsers & stuff like that. I only want to know if anyone has paid for the upgraded membership & it has increased the speed that this site loads or changes pages.

Changing browsers is actually quite simple. I can walk you through it if you would like. As for paid membership you can remove the ads which for some browsers helps them load faster. What browser are you currently using?

I don't want to change browsers~ this is the only site that I have trouble with thus the reason asking if the paid memberships make it load faster.

Or you might find it would do nothing, or so little that you couldn't tell the difference. Too many factors involved.

Great question!

Upgrading your membership to a GFM or PPM does not directly increase the speed of the site, BUT... Upgrading to a GFM or PPM does give you the option to go into your profile and turn off advertising. This definitely will speed up your experience on BYC because the ad code and images are not loaded when each page is being brought up.

So, I guess you could say, "Upgrading to a GFM or PPM allows you to turn off ads which speeds up the site."

I was hoping for more imput from someone that has actually tried the upgrade. I don't understand why this site runs so slow & I know that I am not the only person that has a problem with it. If it is the number of ad's I would think/hope that they would find a way to correct this considering that alot of people that have chickens are not in the large cities with super fast internet. I am lucky & do have a fast connecting & I can load a page with a large amount of flash (can't think of the correct term), for instanace MLB site or any site that has alot of flash graphic's & it will load faster than this message board.

There are hundreds of posts in the past 3 months where many members have said:

1. Upgrading their browser to Chrome or Firefox makes a huge difference (especially if you are on IE 8 or below)
2. Turning off ads helps improve speed.

If you turn off ads but are still running a 4 year old browser, you probably won't see the same benefits as someone on a new browser and who has ads off.
