I am so allergic to it I usually have to go get a shot.

WONDERFUL thing I discovered several years ago: Tecnu medicated wash for poison ivy, oak, sumac, etc. This stuff really works! If you think you've been exposed, scrub really well with it, & be sure & change clothes & wash the ones you had on ASAP, too. You can find it at Walmart or any drug store.

Band-aid makes a clear gel for itch relief that is the bomb. I keep it on hand all year round. It used to be called "Ivy-itch" or something like that but Band-aid bought them out. The tube is clear with a green cap & green writing on it.

I used to get it real bad. Now after i go out i wash with lye soap and very rarely get it or ticks and mosquitos

For most of my life, it didn't affect me at all,but starting about 5 years ago, it has gotten progressively worse. Now, I avoid it like the plague.

I never had a reaction to it at all when I was a kid. Even fell head first into a patch of it, trying to catch a baseball, and nothing happened. Now I get it by practically looking at it.

Tecnu works well, but you have to apply it soon, before you walk around and get it ground into your skin. We bought a product last year called Nature's Poison Ivy cure, http://www.naturespoisonivycure.com/ which uses dried Sweet fern.
I have yet to use it, but it looks very promising!

I used to be in the roll around in it camp, I'm slowly moving towards the "if I look at it I itch" camp. Don't gloat if you're not allergic to it, your time may come.

What I truly hate about the stuff is that it is almost impossible to kill. After the life changing plague/zombies/ecodisaster the only remaining organisms will be cockroaches, rats, starling or grackles, kudzu and poison ivy.

I can walk by poison ivy and get it…I swear! When I was in basic training I unknowingly crawled through it and was covered from head to toe and it spread everywhere because of the heat and sweat from being outside all the time.….even had it in my eyes and after 2 shots it finally went away.
