We got 10 EE's exactly 5 weeks ago.

Is there any rhyme or reason as to why 1/2 of them are two times the size as the others? One of them is as small as my almost 3 week old BRs and BOs!

We did get them from the feed store and they said they were all EEs/Aracauna/Americanas. ....He said they're all the same.... (I know now that's not the case, but I don't care really what they are!)

I'm a real newbie. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!

I would like to find out about this too. One of the 4 EE's I have is nearly twice the size as the others, but overall has the same feather development as the others. Maybe it is a roo?

Ummm, if they were straight run chicks, half of them may be roosters, but they are not typically TWICE as big as the pullets at that age. Is there any possibility that some of your chicks were bantums? The bantams are quite a bit smaller, from the get-go, so if they were all the same size initially, and now half of them are much bigger, I would vote that the bigger ones are roosters.
