Does the color of comb change if they stop laying?

My birds have stopped laying I'm guessing it's the decreased light. But before they did I noticed their combs were so bright when they were laying almost purplish on one, and now that they stopped it has changed to a more pale red. All of then have. Is that normal? Four are only about 6 or 7 months.
And the other two are 1 yr old.

The year olds are probably starting to molt.
Yes, pale shriveled comb coincides with non-laying.
