Not at all. A toddler has only barely discovered orifices. Genders don’t really mean anything to kids that young.

I have 4 kids, ages six and down to 1.5. they all know the difference between our pullets and cockerels. It's a matter of how you teach them.

Yes, it definitely bothers me; it's less of a matter of research than basic knowledge everyone should know! Why should people be taught the difference between male and female deer, cardinals, or beta fish, but not chickens?
