I think his tail is sprouting totally in the wrong spot on his body. It's coming out of his back!

We named him Buzzy.

(ETA: Sorry, wrong picture at first!)

Weird!!! Is this where his little tail-bone is?? Is it just a rogue feather? Is the skirt fluff longer than it looks?

There is actually a little fleshy tail stump from which feathers grow...is this actually a product of a short body and long wings? My OEG chicks had really short bodies and long wings before much else came in...but the BR that hatched out at the same time are 3 times their size and still haven't any long wing feathers or tails at all to speak of...

Do you have others of this breed? Do they look the same, if so?

This one is a salmon faverolle/easter egger mix. The mother of this one, the SF, is really strange. We named her Oddity. She's my favorite bird...she's a wrong colored SF--dark brown--and her wing bones are very short and thick so she can't fly at all, she can't even hop up onto the roost pole!

I wanted to hatch one of her babies to see what would happen. It might be nice to have a flock of totally non-flying chickens for the backyard! But it seems like the chick got some other bones that were too short. I need to double check, but I think the tail is actually where his tail bone ends. Either that or his wings are way too long...sometimes they hang down funny.

The other SF/EE mixes I hatched had a normal SF mother and they look totally different colors and have normal bodies, lol.

I'm not sure which SF is the mother of the chick on the right, but it has kind of a funny tail too. It doesn't stand out nearly as much though.

The three brown chicks are a pure brahma (the big one) and two brahma/EE mixes. Then Buzzy the chick in the first post is on the far left.
