does this egg look ok the membrane?

The chick still looks ok, but the membrane is starting to dry out and may be sticking to the chick. How long has it been that way? It has a good zip started, but it may get stuck

I does look dry to me too. If it's been stuck awhile personally I would slowly chip away some more of the shell around the opening. I've used a tweezers with one half placed between the shell and white membrane and pressed gently down chipping off some of the shell. Stop if you get any blood and go slow. Once all the way around I would put the chick back in and see if it can finish the job itself. I think I read on your previous post that this has been over 48 hours now.

Is it still chirping and active? If so, personally, I'd wait. Maybe moisten the membrane if you can. Damp q-tip, not too wet. What kind of chick?

I would definitely wet the membrane (I too use a q-tip). And pull the membrane away from the chick anywhere that it's sticking/becoming glued. Then I would put a wet paper towel around the backside, lay it in the bator and see if it makes any progress on it's own. If it hasn't after 18-24 hours, then I would chip away around the air cell if there is no signficant veining.

I haven't hatched Plymouth rocks or RIRs but haven't heard anything about them being difficult. That's why I asked. But that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't.
I'm not one that does the wet paper towel wrap thing, but alot or people do it.

The last one that I had that was slow progressing, I also touched the wet q-tip on the shell, on the side of the hole which would start a counter-clockwise zip. I noticed the chick trying to eat the moister parts of the membrane, so I tried to "lead" it to the correct side. I dont know that it really helped, but it made me feel like I was pointing the way lol. Good luck!
