I have a couple chicks that I'm suspicious about. One is the "top dog" -always the first to see what I'm bringing, usually patrolling the perimeter of the brooder, and often chest-bumping with one other chick.

Here's suspect #1:
4-and-a-half week old New Hampshire Red

I have two NHRs, and this is the other, for comparison:

Suspect #2:
4-and-a-half week old Rhode Island Red
(I have two RIRs as well, but wasn't able to get a decent photo of the other -not that this pic is all that great!)

Am I paranoid and seeing roos everywhere? Or are my suspicious correct?
And if one or both are roos, does anyone want one?

The funny thing is, I bought these from the feed store which stated 90% pullets and I bought two of each breed -what are the chances that I'd end up with 50/50??!

(but thank you for your observations!)

Lol, oh well! I guess I can take consolation in my roo-spotting abilities!

So is it because their combs are spiked? Just curious how you can tell. I'm clueless when it comes to all this.

suburban chick -I think it's because the combs and wattles are larger and redder than the other chicks of the same breed and age, that's what tipped me off about these two.
