does this mean anything about there sex

have have narragansett turkeys one of there tail feathers are turning black tipped but not the other one we are trying to sell them an alot of people wanted to know the sex.

Looks too early to tell. They don't all grow their tail feathers at the same rate. I had a Royal Palm this year that didn't show the tail band for at least three weeks after the other two RPs. I was getting concerned because my fourth "Royal palm" never got any black at all and ended up a midget white.

If you watch them enough, the little toms should be doing some strutting, even at that age. If one never struts, its probably a hen.

If I was a gambler I'd bet that the one on the left is a stag and the one on the right is a hen. It's a long shot with young birds like that and just one pic. but that's my guess.

I still cant sex turkeys... i have hen's that strut... often... so that idea is out the door... there is no sure way that i have found... best of luck to you..

The only way I know how, is to wait a year for them to mature, or get DNA sexing...

They should be mating in less than one year.

The one on the left in the pic., as far as I can tell, seems to have a bigger snood. If that's correct, then he's probably a male and the other is probably a female. With two that hatched at the same time, comparison can be an early and quite reliable guide, I think.

At this age I only sell them unsexed. People can get pretty mad if your wrong about the sex. I explain if they want a turkey that I can be sure of the sex they need to be much older. I also explain at that age they will be 3 to 4 times the price that I sell the unsexed turkeys for.​
