I have a beautiful road island red hen she's a bit crippled because she lost her beak or most of it at least... Happened before I got her. So I tend to pay extra attention to her as far as what I let her eat and I spend a couple hours a week digging holes for her to try to find bugs and she'll follow me around while I do that lol. my neighbor was outside we live on the same property and she had dumped some grass clippings to dry out in the backyard deck. My girl came out from under the deck or wherever she was I guess, a few feet from my neighbor while she was outside reading and my she was just looking at her so I peeked outside my door (just my head) without making a sound and I just started at my chicken a few seconds later my girl noticed that I was there watching her and she started running as fast as she could stumbling and flying just to get over to me! It was the cutest thing I've ever seen... I was wondering if she was doing that because she may have been afraid of my neighbor despite how close she was to her and she was running to me for protection or does my chicken baby just love me?? She's the sweetest girl ever!

Awww, so cute!! :love
I think she loves you with all of her little chicken heart! If she flys over to you like that, she must love you a lot! :hugs (or she just wants some more bugs;)) But I think she loves you a lot!

Do you know what might have happened to her beak? Is it hard for her to eat?

Some people think she was debeaked as a chick... I saved her from our family slaughter house :/ all of the road island reds had damaged beaks so we think they were intentionally debeaked

EDIT: also yes I have to feed her powdery food whether it be the chicken pellets that I crushed or corn meal but when I feed her corn meal I give her vitamins

Powdered foods, wow. Does she have trouble drinking?
