Does this one look dead ? Day 32

I just about had to change my pants the first time I saw a turkey too. It was free ranging in my friends backyard when I was little 🤣
turkeys aint pretty the first time u see them. lol. im considering getting one to be the campground chicken every year for the staff to have some holiday dinner. but i dont know how popular eating a mascot would be....

I lover turkeys now, but they arent the prettiest at first lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They have beautiful plumage though. I’d have one if it were super docile. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia so he would have a carefree life.

And yeah, I’m with you, eating a mascot would be a bit weird lol.

the group that already free ranges into the camp ground is mostly silkies lol and two porelain duccle bantams and only 1 light brahma. but people go omg run lol.
I understand with brahmas, and bantams have had a bad rap for aggression over the years (totally unwarranted in my experience), but silkies???? 🤣

ahh a friend from britains penal colony. not that they didnt use america for similar things.

I think id have less of an issue with it if i knew from day 1 it was the plan. i have a hard time renigging on the intention of an animal. an ex decided to have me slaughter and process a bunny we never planned to eat and it messed me up. unlike all the ones we knew would be eaten if they didnt sell.

You should save the turkeys from the us lol

i love my porcelain bantams. my boss said no roosters, and ive already gotten rid of 1 silkie rooster, but both porcelain duccles seem to be males and ill die before i get rid of them lol.

Yup, fair dinkum true blue, that’s me 😁. I didn’t think the America’s were originally intended as a penal colony though was it? I know British and French Guiana and most of Georgia were so... I don’t know what I’m talking about, as usual lol. Always willing to learn though, that’s why I’m here 😁.

I think it’s the mindset, if you know an animal is to be slaughtered your brain works different than if you bond with a pet then have to do the deed. I think most people here can relate to that. Sorry it happened to you.

I’ll give both my silkie roos an extra pat when they go to roost tonight, just for you. I don’t think anything could separate me from my roos so I understand how you feel about your duccles. Such beautiful birds they are.

not originally but they took quite a bit of leeway with indentures to empty their prisons here to.
