no pics. i have a chick about 5 wks old. she has been snow white. i'm starting to notice black stippling on her neck & underneath her tail feathers black feathers are showing. her legs/feet are yellow. does this sound like delaware?

Yes it could be a Delaware. She should also have some black on the wing tips/primary feathers. The leg color is correct. Delawares tend to be friendly and curious with a little handling.

Could be. A picture would help. Some folks call anything that is black and white a Delaware for some reason; they don't seem to notice the differences in breeds if the birds look similar in color.

DelDels, that comment about a "little handling" cracked me up, LOL. My Delawares handle me! They are the most in-your-face chicks I could imagine. Crazy birds sometimes, crave attention their entire lives, it seems.

speckledhen, i saw on another thread you had a picture of your rooster & a hen next to him. that is what this pullet looks like. what breed is your rooster & hen?
thanks

If you mean my white rooster, I have a Delaware rooster and two Delaware hens, however, I did also have a Light Brahma hen until recently and there is a pic of the rooster with her close to him. You'd have to link me to the exact photo.

Some folks think Lt. Brahmas look like Delawares because they have black in the tail and hackles, but Brahmas have solid black hackles and Dels have barred hackles. Plus, of course, Brahmas are pea combed with some leg feathering.

Below are two Delaware pullets:

Here is a slightly older one:

And, as she looked as a more mature pullet-not the best type, light hackles, sort of pinched tail, but you get the idea:

This was her at 5 weeks old:

i am excited because i got this chick just by last moment grab. i had overpaid a lady & so she gave me this chick. it's markings are just like your delawares. it has no feathering on it's legs. i don't know much for recognizing breeds yet & i thought maybe i had a leghorn until i saw the black in her.
i like that delaware is a heritage breed. i look forward to her eggs.
i don't know how to post pictures so i'm no help that way.
thanks for your info.
