You might get lucky and find an employee who does. The 2 stores I bought my chicks from this year, clearly stated they have their chicks divided up as they came in, so the ones that are supposed to be pullets are sexed at the hatchery.
I bought my 1st set of new chicks 4 wks ago, 10 are supposed to be pullets and 2 are straight run Brahma's. Of the 10 pullets I believe I have 4 roosters.
My second dozen are only a week old, Im not seeing anything that would indicate for sure, but there are supposed to be 6 gold laced wyndotte pullets and 6 straight run Barred Rocks.
I bought 6 last year, that were all supposed to be female ducks. I wound up with 2 males. So I think regardless of what the "sign" says, they arent always right LOL
Yeah, it is so irritating. I saw a woman picking up chicks and talking baby talk to them then put them back in the wrong bins...I felt like kicking her!
we live in ct but none of tsc had rouen ducks so we went 35 mins to mass an they had rouen so i said we will take 2 he said we have 24 duck min before easter
. i laughed thought he was kidding then he was like i am not joking so we just bought some chicks.around here the tsc has fencing around all the bins so no one can handle them.
Yeah, people don't always think to hard about whether what they are doing is wrong or not. I Usually find the woman who go in to TSC to coo over the chicks irritating. One lady pulled a duckling out and tried to hand it to my 2 year old! CRAZINESS! Never let a 2 YO hold anything that might be squashed or easily broken! Good thing my daughter is used to me telling her NOT to handle the wee little animals.
They also have hundreds of little kids come through, handling the chicks and putting them back in the wrong tubs when their parents are ready to check out.
