Does tuna and cayenne peppers really speed up new layers?

I gave my duo some tuna and cayenne (which they gobbled up so fast the tiny bantam didn't even get any) and 3 days later, BAM, First Egg!

I read about it here in the forums, and couldn't find the old post to reply to, so created a new one

Let me know if you guys have tried this, and if you think it worked.

My girls were close to 8 months old, so it could have just been, they were "ready" and not the tuna.
 
I use cayenne pepper all the time to kick start my hens coming off of bring Broody. I think it's amazing.
 
Depending on breed 8 months might be a bit of a late bloomer for laying.
Could be that they were not getting enough protein previously and the extra protein did kick them off.
Not sure about the cayenne, some folks tout it as a miracle substance for various ills but I have no idea why.
