Doesn't ANYONE know HOW to count change back anymore?

You may not need math, but you do need to think. There are those who would count out all ones if asked to count back change, or if the bill was $7.52, and they were handed a twenty, the change might come back as 8 pennies, 4 dimes and 12 ones instead of 3 pennies, two dimes, one quarter, 2 ones, and a ten.

That is very true. It also happens when the register tells them how much change to return.

My daughter recently said that the register told the clerk that the change should be 82 cents. She received 8 dimes and 2 pennies. There were quarters and nickels in the drawer but the clerk was not aware that 3 quarters, 1 nickel, and 2 pennies would also work.

People can't measure anything anymore either. I recently tried to buy half a metre of material and the girl at the counter looked at me as though i was mad. I don't think she had any idea of fractions and I had to measure it out myself in the end.
