Something had been eating my tomoatoes, I have my garden fenced off to keep the chickens out and couldn't figure out who/what was getting my tomatoes, I was starting to blame the chipmunks! Well tonight when hubby was leaving for work he called and said he saw a "huge" opossum in the alley heading into our neighbors yard and wanted to make sure the chickens were locked up, So I went out looking in the back yard and there it was. I went in to get the camera, net (yes I was going to try and catch it) and a flashlight. I called hubby to let him know it was in the backyard and asked how "huge" was it because the one I was looking at wasn't that big! But maybe there were more around! When I can back out it was in my garden going at my tomatoes! **** opossum. I couldn't catch it due to the wire so I got a tomato stake and tried beating it. Yes I am cruel byt next time it might be my chickens (I don't think so since coop is very secure!) It wouldn't leave, so I called hubby back and he said spray it with the hose. Finally that did it. If my neighbors saw me they probably think I am crazy! Did set the trap with cat food in case it or a family member comes back! Well as I was about to post this I heard the trap snap (windows open since it is nice out!) and see the last pic got the poor little guy!

They are mean little critters and they will bite so glad you got one. Just don't let it loose out in the country - like the humane society does around here, when people turn them in.

Sounds like you have the whole family of opossums, including the grandparents and distant cousins!

I have caught 3 so far this last week all about the same size, waiting for mom or dad to get caught. Yuck! They stink really bad too!
