2 days ago I was convinced my babies hated me. They would run away anytime we came near to clean out the brooder, replace water, etc...

We did try giving them some treats, but only 2 of them really went for it.
I went to check in on them this morning...no treats in hand... and they *ALL* came running to me, just at the sight of me!!! Luna, the cayuga, was even jumping up trying to get to me!!! I was so happy I had to get them some more broccoli (seems to be their fave so far.)

...that really didn't take much, I guess "the way to a (ducks) heart..." lol

My babies are 9 days old today!

They will get used to the fact that you have the treats. Mine are 2 years old, still always skiddish, but run like the dickens when I call them. Good luck and repeat, repeat, repeat!

The way to a Duck's heart is through his stomach obviously...

LOL, yeah, mine head for the hills if they think I am going to try and touch them, but as soon as I hold my hand out and say "Duck, Duck, Duck, Duck" really fast they come 'a runnin'. Because in "Duck" talk I just said "Fresh Peas, Come get your Fresh Peas!" Funny ducks. They let me pet them then. Ha, Ha, I guess they are trying to condition me.

Ducklings are so fun and cute. I have a four-day-old lone duckling, and he's imprinted on me so he and I are best of friends. He's sitting on my arm as I type, actually!

oh how sweet! I'm so glad it worked out. And I'm happy to hear other people's ducks run when they try to pet them! I can get them to come with grass, will even come when they hear the door to the garage open or hear my voice but they don't LOVE when we pet them.

Nope, we still haven't gotten to petting. They act like we're trying to eat them or something...lol. But they will come up on my lap and eat, and when I sat and watched them today they didn't act paranoid. Well, one kept cocking her head at me like, "what are you doing?" "are you gonna get me a treat or what?" LOL But still no petting. Hopefully soon, my kids love to touch their fuzz and I know we'll want to stroke their feathers, but I don't want the duckies having anxiety attacks while we do it! ha ha

Ha ha ha! So cute! I really hope mine let us pet them, as it's going now it's hopeful but..you never know. I may have to ask you to give me lessons in "duck talk".
