Dog attack...Big bad roo earns his keep!

Rooster-Red.....what a great victory story. Great roo!! I do feel bad for a suffering dog, however...he got what he deserved. Dont think for a minute, that the dog wont be back tho. He might want revenge! Be safe...and love that roo!!!

Great out come to what could have been another sad story and loss of more loved pets. I have to admitt. I don't feel bad for the dog AT ALL. It totally got what it deserved!!!

Mabey it will think twice next time but I doubt it. Keep that .45 handy!!

Awesome rooster! And the dog and your sister-in-law should be thanking your rooster. It sounds like he may have actually saved the dog's life.

I am loving all these rooster stories (not that I like to hear of the dog being hurt but ... he should have been penned and it does sound like it might have saved his life if you or someone else has to shoot him otherwise). But I'm glad to hear of these roos (even ... no ESPECIALLY gentle ones!) defending their flocks.

I had wanted only banty roos at first, to provide warning only and be easier on the hens. A few of my standards (including a barred rock) are looking suspicious though it's too early to tell. If I end up with some standard roos, I just might keep them if I can.

Though in that case I may end up needing new homes for any of the banties that turn out to be hens, for their own sakes.

Still waiting to see .... but much encouraged by these great rooster stories.

Go roo!

My former in-laws had the biggest rooster I have ever seen in my life. It was solid white with perfect red comb and wattles and yellow feet. It was gigantic - easily its head would reach past my knee and halfway up my thigh (and I am 5'11"). They got the bird from someone who thought it was far too aggressive. Let me tell you NOTHING wandered up into their yard more than once. Strangers would think twice before getting out of their car. For the rest of us he never once bothered us, completely ingored the grandchildren as well. I have always wondered whatever became of that roo and if they hatched any of its babies.

I love reading your story where the roo came out on top!

hurrayyy Mr Rooster!!! to get the stain of the blood out use peroxide it works great!

I hope the dog is feeling better tho and i am glad your sister is going to keep her where she belongs!!

Me: "Now, see, this should spur you on to make the effort at
a bit more derring-do!"

Roo: "Remind me, again, about the delivery status of that
roll of welded wire fencing and the box of bullets, if
you would, please. While we're at it, where'd you hide
those grapes?"

Me: " `sigh' "
