Hi

The other day one of my girls was attacked by one of our dogs. We took her to the vet and got some anti-biotics and she is starting to respond (but she can't walk very well, limping).
We're hoping that she will recover in a couple of weeks. She is a mature chicken and lays eggs every day- will the shock of the incident (or the bite on her back) affect her laying? She
is lying down a lot in one spot so I don't want her getting stressed because she might have an egg in her! We don't care if she stops laying, just want to make sure she is comfortable.

Thank you for the help!

Any stress to a hen can cause her to stop laying for a while. If you put her in a dark spot to heal she will probably not lay due to the decrease in light. But isolating her away from the coop may cause problems with re-introducing her to the others. I would keep her crated in the coop where she can see others until she is able to walk around in her crate, then get some BluKote on any wounds to mask them from pecking.
