My gut is saying yes keep it covered with a thin layer of gauze slathered with antibiotic ointment and gently wrapped with vet wrap.
My reason is twofold one it keeps her from pecking it again and causing it to bleed. The second reason is it will help keep it moist so that it doesn't crack and bleed again.

I agree keeping it moist and covered would be good. Lil girl still looks amazing though. She is a survivor! 🙏❤️

Todays pic...part of the scab came off but no blood this time. It's the pink part in the middle. I'm still wrapping it very loosely and noticed most of the scab seems like it's going to come up and off. She seems extra extra hungry! I absolutely did not think she was alive that day this happened and am just shocked at how perky she is. I can personally learn a few lessons from her strength in this. I love my chickens more and more!

Because winter temps are starting to set in here (lows in the mid 20s F) and soon will be eve colder....I am assuming she will be wintering indoors this year and am trying to figure out how to essentially turn a small bedroom into a coop. Ideas welcome!
